Bruce Kvam
Senior Biologist
Bruce is a senior staff biologist with more than 18 years of experience conducting aquatic studies, water quality investigations and habitat assessments. He has been with Strange Resource Management for over 10 years, providing project management and expertise throughout the Pacific Northwest. He manages the aquatic field survey projects to evaluate stream biota, including the presence/absence of state or federally-listed species, and is well-versed in a variety of sampling methods. His extensive aquatic biology expertise includes fish collection, identification and relocation techniques, fish and wildlife habitat assessment and development, and benthic macroinvertebrate assessments.

Bruce has lead many water quality projects to assess the effects of timber harvest, road construction, and land development on streams and riparian systems. He has characterized water quality during the baseline, construction, and post-development phases of a project. This experience involves in situ water quality measurement and continuous temperature monitoring in forested and urbanized watersheds. Bruce is also certified as an erosion and sedimentation control professional and provides oversight to minimize turbidity and sedimentation impacts during project construction.

Bruce performs habitat assessments and project mitigation planning and success monitoring in stream, wetland, shoreline, riparian, and oak woodland habitats to identify habitat quality and species presence. He prepares habitat enhancement plans focused on measurable benchmarks to document mitigation program success. His experience includes analysis of potential effects to sensitive species and critical habitat from proposed development and recommendation of impact avoidance and minimization measures.
