Strange Resource Management
We are small enough to provide every client the quality of services they deserve, yet resourceful enough to complete every project we accept in an efficient, cost effective manner.

History
Roots of the company began by providing aquatic invertebrate taxonomy services while in graduate school. The company relocated to the Central Valley of California in 1990 and evolved as Strange Aquatic Resources. Inspired by friends, peers, landowners, and local governments, the company expanded services to include the development of self-sustaining trophy fishing ponds and lakes and wetlands for wildlife habitat. Strange Aquatic Resources relocated to the central Sierra foothills in 1993 where it remains today.

Fisheries biologist Erin (Sauls) Strange joined the company in 1998 as a majority owner, bringing with her an extensive portfolio of governmental career skills centered on resource evaluation and management. This allowed the company to provide effective project permitting, biological assessments, protected species surveys, and stream and river habitat restoration. The company has continued to expand into an array of biological and environmental fields reflecting the principals’ diverse education and broad professional interests and expertise over the years.

In 2003, Strange Environmental was added to the company with a mission to provide the highest quality, diverse services to land development companies and water districts in the Sierra foothills. Strange Environmental provides a diversity of biological and water quality assessments focused on oak woodland and wildlife habitats, wetlands impacts and mitigation, construction monitoring for erosion control and stormwater protection on environmentally sensitive areas, and long-term mitigation success monitoring.

Strange Habitat Management was created in 2007 as a direct response to client interests. The company focuses on the creation and restoration of fisheries and wildlife habitat components in aquatic and upland environments. Our efforts result in diversified habitats for enhanced landowner quality of experience, increased performance values, and property value growth and acceleration on investment, or for permit compliance with regulatory agencies.

Today, Strange Resource Management has evolved into a consulting firm with three distinct areas of specialization. Strange Aquatic Resources and the “Strange Trophy Lakes” brand continues to remain the top pond and lake consulting firm in the western states with unparalleled attention to the development of highest quality fish habitat and water quality, and premier landscape and aesthetic values in the most cost-effective manner. Strange Environmental provides private land developers, water and utility districts, and engineering and general construction firms the highest quality of biological, stormwater, and specialized long-term environmental services. Strange Habitat Management provides a variety of habitat creation and/or enhancement services as an integral part of any aquatic or upland wildlife habitat project.

Strange Resource Management is a unique biological consulting firm that places a priority on attention to detail and superior project management. We are small enough to provide every client the quality of services they deserve, yet resourceful enough to complete every project we accept in an efficient, cost effective manner.
